Governance and Structure
NTA is co-chaired by Professors Geoff Donnan and Stephen Davis and operates as a central administrative team based at the coordinating centres, the National Stroke Research Institute and Department of Neurology, Melbourne Health. Governance is provided by a Platform Management Board made up of leading clinicians from across the neurosciences representing the nine subspecialties and a neuropharmacologist Professor Frank Vajda. Until separately established the functions of a Scientific Advisory Council will be performed by the Management Board.
NTA Structure
Neuroscience Trials Australia is one of eight synergistic neuroservice platforms that comprise the National Neuroscience Facility. Our core business is to facilitate neuroscience clinical trials for investigators and sponsors. Our collaborative structure provides us with the ability to add value via a range of clinical services, and the ability to access target patient populations using state of the art facilities across multiple centres. A Scientific Advisory Council will be established in the coming year and will be charged with independently evaluating research proposals and overseeing the distribution of seed funding to support and encourage innovative investigator-driven Australian research in the neurosciences.
