Professor Frank Vajda
MD FRACP FRCP
Frank Vajda trained in Neurology in Melbourne and London, and subsequently trained in Clinical Pharmacology at the Hammersmith in London before returning to Australia and the Austin Hospital Heidelberg where he worked as a Neurologist and Senior Clinical Pharmacologist for 14 years.
He was Foundation Treasurer and second President of the Epilepsy Society of Australia and has represented the Australian Association of Neurologists (AAN) on the consulting editorial board of the Australian Prescriber. He was clinical evaluator for the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) between 1988 and 2000 as well as Founder and former Director of the Australian R. Wallenberg Centre for Clinical Neuropharmacology which is affiliated with Melbourne University and St. Vincent’s Hospital. Frank was appointed Professor of Clinical Neuropharmacology at Monash University in 2005.
He is Founder and Director of the Australian Antiepileptic Drug Registry for Women in Pregnancy, and member of the central project commission of EURAP, the Registry established by the International League against Epilepsy in 1999.
Professor Vajda has been involved in over 25 clinical trials, predominantly of antiepileptic drugs, as well as drugs used to treat Parkinson’s disease, headache, motor neurone disease, and a variety of non-neurological disorders. He is co-author of over 300 publications and editor of 15 books including the Handbook of the Clinical Pharmacology of antiepileptic Drugs (co-editor with Mervyn Eadie AO).
