Professor Berkovic is an internationally recognised clinical researcher and epileptologist with a special interest in establishing close research links with basic scientists.
He is Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at Austin Health, Director of the Epilepsy Research Centre and Scientific Director of the Brain Research Institute. He holds a personal Chair in the Department of Medicine, Austin Health/Northern Health at The University of Melbourne, and is an adjunct Chair in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill University, Montreal, Canada.
He has won many prestigious awards, was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and honoured as a Member of the Order of Australia for services to medicine as a neurologist, particularly in the field of epilepsy research and treatment in 2005.
